Footwear For Driving

Footwear For Driving

Driving can be dangerous at the best of times, but when you wear unsuitable footwear it adds a whole new factor into the mix. If you are off on a night out then wear flat shoes to drive to your destination and then swap for your fancy stilettos when you get there.
Wearing flip flops of sandals can be a bad idea, as when you  come to change gear the sole of the shoe can get stuck under the pedal. They can also lead to the ankle slipping and you may miss the pedal altogether, which can cause a danger as you cant react quick enough. Should it be a situation where you need to brake suddenly, your reaction time would be slowed and you may have an accident.
Driving footwear really needs to have a thin sole so you can feel the amount of pressure you are putting on the pedal.

The brake and accelerator pedals are worked by the heel of the foot, so if you are wearing stilettos your foot will not have the surface area to apply rthe right amount of pressure.

If you are driving in wet weather then you will need to take greater care when driving, as the rubbery sole of the shoe can become slippery, and will slip on the pedal. Make sure you dry your sole thoroughly before you embark on your journey.
If you are driving at all in the UK make sure you buy Insurance for Car owners online
